Job Overview: The Senior Principal Architect at Cubic Technology Systems is a key executive leader responsible for shaping and executing the company's overarching technology and architectural strategy. With a strong focus on cloud architecture and scalable, cloud-native solutions, this role demands a deep understanding of both technical and business landscapes. Reporting directly to the Head of Architecture and collaborating closely with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Senior Principal Architect will guide the technical direction of the company, ensuring that all architectural decisions are aligned with business objectives and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Vision:

  • Lead the development and execution of the company’s architectural vision, with a strong emphasis on cloud-native and hybrid cloud solutions.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the Chief Architect and CTO, helping to shape the company’s long-term technology strategy in alignment with business goals and market trends.
  • Leverage in-depth knowledge of business and customer needs to inform and drive architectural decisions that ensure the company remains competitive and innovative.

Enterprise Architecture and Cloud Strategy:

  • Design and oversee enterprise-wide cloud architectures using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Develop and lead initiatives for cloud migration, hybrid cloud strategies, and multi-cloud deployments, ensuring these architectures are secure, scalable, and cost-effective.
  • Champion the adoption of cutting-edge cloud-native technologies such as serverless computing, containerization (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker), and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

Executive Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

  • Report directly to the Chief Architect and work in close partnership with the CTO, providing thought leadership and guidance on all matters related to solution architecture.
  • Communicate complex architectural concepts and their business implications to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, fostering a shared understanding of the company’s technology roadmap.

Technical Leadership and Mentorship:

  • Serve as a mentor and leader for architecture and engineering teams, setting high standards for software development, particularly in cloud architecture and cloud-native application development.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for cloud-first software development, including coding standards, tool selection, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the exploration and adoption of emerging technologies that can enhance product offerings and operational efficiency.

Innovation and Research:

  • Drive innovation by staying ahead of industry trends, identifying opportunities to integrate new technologies and methodologies that align with the company's strategic goals.
  • Lead research and development (R&D) efforts to explore new cloud architectures, platforms, and tools that can deliver competitive advantages.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging teams to experiment with and adopt innovative solutions that enhance product quality and customer value.

Governance, Compliance, and Risk Management:

  • Establish robust architectural governance frameworks that ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and security best practices.
  • Oversee regular architectural reviews and audits, particularly for cloud deployments, to identify and mitigate risks proactively.
  • Ensure that the company’s architectural decisions support long-term scalability, reliability, and security while managing technical debt.

Business and Customer Alignment:

  • Work closely with business leaders to understand customer needs, market dynamics, and competitive pressures, ensuring that architectural decisions are informed by these factors.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions that drive customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.
  • Ensure that the company’s technology and architecture strategies are aligned with its overall business objectives and are adaptable to evolving customer needs.

Problem Solving and Critical Thinking:

  • Act as a key escalation point for resolving complex technical challenges, particularly those related to cloud architecture and large-scale system design.
  • Provide strategic guidance on addressing technical debt, optimizing performance, and ensuring the robustness of all software solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced business degree is a plus.
  • Experience:
  • 15+ years of experience in software development and architecture design, with at least 7 years focused on cloud architecture at an enterprise level.
  • Proven track record as a Senior Principal Architect, Enterprise Architect, or similar senior leadership role in a large-scale software development environment.
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud-native architecture, including serverless computing, microservices, and containerization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence at the executive level, with a strong focus on aligning technology initiatives with business strategy.
  • Skills:
  • Deep expertise in enterprise architecture, cloud architecture patterns (e.g., microservices, serverless, event-driven architecture), and best practices.
  • Exceptional leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills, with a proven ability to guide and inspire technical teams.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to translate business and customer needs into effective technical solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with a strategic approach to addressing complex challenges.
