This position is a remote opportunity.

This role will support the Revenue Cycle Team in the Medical Coding Department.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with leaders, educators, and other key stakeholders to plan, implement and evaluate the delivery of learning programs to target achievement of the organization's goals and initiatives. Conducts training needs analysis and uses instructional design and curriculum development principles to deliver learning programs. Supports e-learning development and other technology-based learning processes. Incorporates best practice educational design and theory to maximize learning effectiveness to improve team member performance. Consults with leaders, staff and other key stakeholders to design education and development strategies that align department, division, and system priorities and resources; ensures that educational programs help facilitate change, improve performance and/or achieve organizational goals. Helps leaders and others work through complex situations to foster team member engagement in learning and development.
  • Researches, organizes information, writes, and oversees instructional materials (instructor and trainee guides, graphics, tutorials, references, tests, etc.). Structures course content, develops course outlines, and determines user pathways and feedback to create instructional and system navigational templates. For instructor-led classes (in person or virtual), provides comprehensive "train the trainer" sessions for all trainers who will be presenting the material and provides trainers with explanations of updates as they arise, including new "train the trainer" sessions, as needed.
  • May develop engaging and effective e-learning courses that use graphics, videos, simulations, and animations. Assists in the conversion of instructor-led training programs to virtual solutions. Maintains and updates existing e-learning courses. Integrates visual, video, and audio technology into the course development process, ensuring they are optimized for performance.
  • Ensures consistency and adherence to department e-learning design standards (branding guidelines, accessibility requirements, imagery, etc.). Maintain digital files in a central and easily accessible location for editing and storage and ensures online learning catalogue is up to date.
  • Utilizes process improvement tools to lead projects involving education that improve quality, team member performance, and customer satisfaction, while reducing waste and/or cost. Observes trends and patterns to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Acts as a resource and liaison by establishing effective working relationships, to ensure collaboration across departments, divisions, and disciplines to optimize education and development processes. Connects people and facilitates information flow to support key initiatives involving education across the organization.
  • Supports achievement of organizational goals by optimizing training performance and facilitating change. Recognizes the need to adapt to the rapidly changing needs of the customer, workflow, team, organization and external environment. Facilitates organizational awareness and understanding of the rationale and desired outcome of changes.
  • Establishes periodic meetings with key business departments to evaluate satisfaction with existing offerings and to explore ideas of new or enhanced training opportunities. Documents and acts on feedback provided by the business departments, while maintaining a positive working relationship with those departments.
  • In partnership with the Quality & Systems team, develops a framework and standards for the creation, assessment, revalidation, and documentation of in-scope team member competency. Provides consultation for the design and implementation processes for tracking and analyzing data on system educational initiatives, program outcomes and competency patterns and trends.
  • Coaches and mentors others to support ongoing development and professional practice. Supports an effective team environment through open communication and knowledge of group dynamics. Models new educational practices in a simulated or real environment.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Epic certification issued by Epic needs to be obtained within 6 months, and/or
  • Any other applicable certifications or badges based on the needs of the department.
  • If uncertified, certifications must be obtained within 6 months of starting.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.

Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in adult education/instructional design that includes experiences in curriculum development, instructional design, training program presentation, web development and adult learning in a related business, technological or health care environment.
  • If e-learning focused, requires demonstrated success (minimum 4 years) developing e-learning with asynchronous tools (i.e., Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Camtasia, etc.), along with experience in graphic design and layout (i.e., Adobe Creative Suite). Experience with multimedia development/editing software (i.e., image, audio, and video editing) also required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • License or certification in at least two of the org’s EHR modules; or Master’s Degree in Adult Education, Curriculum Design, or related field (items not required for e-learning-only Instructional Designers).
  • Knowledge of functional areas processes/procedures.
  • Strong leadership skills in training program deployment and peer mentoring.
  • Effective critical thinking, reflective reasoning, creativity and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of web technologies, instructional design software and collaboration tools/related web tools. Proficiency using instructional graphics applications for content development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or similar products with a strong technical aptitude.
  • Extensive experience translating learning outcomes into virtual deliverables. Ability to clearly articulate ideas, concepts and visions for learning projects.
  • Excellent critical inquiry, assessment and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with instructional design including audience analysis, design purpose strategies and content strategies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, active listening and verbal/written communication skills. Able to provide educational offerings that ensures translation of teachings into actions.
  • Ability to work effectively, independently and as part of a team.

Pay Range

$37.50 - $56.25
