Job Description
The Business Development Representative is an experienced sales professional that builds their own portfolio of mid-market sized (MMB) customers across North America, with the opportunity to solicit any region and/or vertical. Our current customers range from different verticals, including but not limited to, food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, construction, and retail. This role prospects new customers and sells MoLo, an ArcBest Truckload Service, while collaborating with various departments, including other ArcBest service lines, to provide integrated transportations solutions. This position is focused on identifying new business opportunities, negotiating contracts, and providing tailored logistics solutions that meet the unique needs of each customer. The Business Development Representative (MMB) is the primary point of contact for customer interactions, ensuring seamless coordination and delivering an exceptional service.
Responsibilities
  • Research new leads by utilizing customer databases and customer relationship management software.
  • Prospect mid-market sized customers through cold calling and email communication.
  • Uncover customer needs while successfully positioning and selling MoLo's truckload service offerings.
  • Act as a consultant to customers to build and maintain customer relationships.
  • Proactively identify issues and resolve problems to uphold our commitment to service.
  • Drive department initiatives and mentor teammates.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with carrier sales, yield management, truckload account development, accounting, and modal operations departments.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

Requirements
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred.
Experience:
  • 2 years of sales experience in the supply chain or third-party logistics industry, preferred.
Computer Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, preferred.

  • Proven experience in successfully building, maintaining, and growing customer relationships.
  • Ability to negotiate and reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all stakeholders.

Other Details
Company: ArcBest
Location: In office for training then hybrid with 3 days a week required to be in the Chicago office of MoLo, an ArcBest Truckload Service. The MoLo Chicago office is located at 167 Green Street in the Fulton Market District.
Work Hours:
  • Generally, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with occasional irregular hours depending on workload.
Compensation:
  • Hourly rate range $23.55-$26.92 for Chicago, IL (hourly rate range may vary by location)
  • This is an hourly position paid biweekly.
  • Variable compensation is included.
